Ayaneo's Pocket DMG is a Modern Game Boy

Ayaneo's Pocket DMG is a Modern Game Boy
Anbernic has nothing on Ayaneo if you thought it launched new gadgets quickly. Ayaneo quickly unveiled a new line of gaming handhelds after we received the Pocket S for evaluation.
At its REMAKE event, Ayaneo unveiled three new handhelds, a new tiny PC, a GPU dock, and even a portable charger. While all of these have a throwback feel or inspiration, the Pocket DMG and Pocket Micro stand out.
Ayaneo Pocket DMG
The Pocket DMG takes us back to the early days, even though many of us have been clamouring over the Anbernic RG35XX SP for its GBA SP form factor. As the name suggests, Ayaneo based the Pocket DMG on the original Game Boy. It's not a vintage handheld, though, like the ones that collect dust in Grandma's cellar.
The Pocket DMG is Ayaneo's first vertical handheld in its contemporary form. It has a 3.92-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 1240 x 1080. As if that weren't remarkable enough, Qualcomm's Snapdragon G3x Gen 2 will power the second handheld device. The Pocket S is powered by the same chip, making it the most potent vertical handheld device yet.
Although Ayaneo hasn't officially released all of the specifications, it's clear that the business didn't cut any corners. Curved edges, an "optimal ergonomic shape," and even a pop of colour on the power button give the design the appearance of having been created by Teenage Engineering.
In addition to the screen and processor, the Pocket DMG's controls are yet another noteworthy "feature"." A D-Pad is on the left, while the conventional ABXY arrangement is on the right. A single joystick, however, is positioned beneath the D-Pad in what appears to be a cutaway of some kind.
However, it's a touchpad rather than a cutout. Ayaneo says this offers a "smoother control experience," but the DMG has another secret. The software created by Ayaneo allows the touchpad to be mapped similarly to a joystick.
Ayaneo has not provided us with the specifications, cost, and availability. We will inform everyone as soon as this information becomes available.
Ayaneo Pocket Micro
The Ayaneo Pocket Micro is another portable handheld device that fans of the Miyoo A30 and Anbernic RG28XX can anticipate. Essentially, Ayaneo threw the Flip DS's bottom screen into its throwback portable device. As a result, the Micro has a 3.5-inch IPS screen with a resolution of 960 x 640. At this resolution, the Pocket Micro offers the "ideal experience for playing 4X GBA games"."
Once more, Ayaneo refrained from disclosing every detail of the Pocket Micro's specifications. It did, however, reveal that the MediaTek Helio G99 will be in charge, which means that many of our beloved vintage consoles will work well with it.
It shouldn't be shocking that the build was completed, considering Ayaneo's ambition to be the best in industrial design. The "high-end CNC aluminium alloy" used to make the Pocket Micro's frame is claimed to have an "advanced and unique texture." Finally, Ayaneo plans to release the Micro in four distinct colours, one of which is reminiscent of the original NES and another quite Famicom-esque.
The Wait Begins
Regretfully, Ayaneo has yet to disclose significant information on their most recent range of vintage handhelds. Additionally, the company "will be hosting a launch event at the end of July where the shipping time will be announced," so we must wait to find out more.
Accordingly, we have at least a month, if not more, before Ayaneo is prepared to share the joy with us. We will undoubtedly be closely monitoring this one. Fortunately, there will soon be an unexpected diversion in the form of the Odin 2 Mini.
