GotM: Do Your Job June Games Announced!

As summer approaches, it's also time to begin your summer employment! This month's GotM theme is "Do Your Job June." The character in the nominated games must be performing a job. Check out my essay on our GotX program here to learn more about it and how to get involved!

Metroid II: Return of Samus

Console: GB

Release: 1991

Genre: Adventure

HLTB: 5 hours

Samus has returned and is prepared to wipe out many Metroids! This Game Boy game, which was highly ambitious for its day, marks the debut of the bounty hunter. Explore a sizable area, eliminate adversaries, acquire special skills, and advance farther into the planet's interior to achieve your extermination objective.

Unfortunately, this month's completion credit does not apply to AM2R or Metroid: Samus Returns for the 3DS. You can utilise this colour hack, which you can get here, but you must play the Game Boy version.

Half-Life

Console: PC, PS2, Port Master, Dreamcast, Android

Release: 1998

Genre: FPS

HLTB: 12 hours

Gordon Freeman, the scientist is you. The Black Mesa Research Facility employs you. Is this a little dull? Don't worry; things will get much better. It's acceptable that you are a little late for the job. Something goes wrong, and you must battle for your life once you clock in and begin an experiment.

It is one of the most well-known first-person shooter games ever made; it is worth playing if you haven't already or replaying if you have! Although the Black Mesa edition isn't included, Valve has improved the Steam Deck to make it a better game!

Advance Wars

Console: GBA, Switch

Release: 2001

Genre: Strategy

HLTB: 15 hours

Do you enjoy using strategic preparation to out manoeuvre adversaries in combat? You should play this game! You can choose from various units and terrain to destroy your opponent's squad or take their headquarters. You must finish the campaign mode to accomplish this.

If you want to try the Nintendo Switch remake, it does count towards completion on this one! Another piece of advice: the tutorial is extensive and lengthy. You can jump straight to the campaign by playing the tutorial's last task if you've already played this and don't want to repeat the entire process.

We're playing those games this month, so stop by and join us on our Discord channel as we have yet another fantastic GotM month. What kinds of games are you most eager to play? If you're new to GotX, see our post on how to get involved here. Have fun while playing!
