OdinTools Setup Guide

What is this?

Langerhans, who can be found on the AYN Discord, developed this. They have created a fantastic tool for the AYN Odin 2.

Features

  • A quick settings tile that allows the user to choose which styles to cycle through while changing the controller style
  • The user can choose which styles to cycle through in the quick settings tile for changing the L2/R2 style.
  • Single-press home button configuration that permits accessing the home screen with a single home button push
  • Show the saturation level. This is set instantly and will also be applied following a reboot. Keep in mind that it takes a few seconds for it to apply when you open the device.
  • Both controller style and L2/R2 style settings have per-app overrides. These will be automatically applied and reverted depending on the active foreground application.
  • Performance and fan modes have per-app overrides. They work similarly to overrides in controller style.

Install

Installing it is quite simple. Visit the OdinTools Github page (https://github.com/langerhans/OdinTools) to install the most recent version. That's it; you may adjust the settings as soon as you open it. Click the pencil icon on the right and slide down from the top to see the fast settings tiles. When you scroll down, L2/R2 mode tiles and Controller Style should appear. Hold and drag them above to make them appear where you want them to. Let's review each feature.

Settings

You are presented with a fast settings title to switch between Retro, Xbox, or Disconnect mode. This is crucial because some programs require Xbox mode for the controls to function or, at the very least, for the buttons to be in the proper locations. I don't use Xbox Game Pass, but I've heard it's useful for games like Call of Duty. As I'll discuss, we can go one step further with per-app settings.

The L2/R2 mode can be switched between Analogue, digital, or both on the next quick settings tile. Users of Daijisho will be aware that setting it to both was advised for the triggers to function in Daijisho. This will also resolve Yuzu's dislike of digital triggers.

This is a change in the quality of life, but you can make it so that you need to click the home button once to go home rather than twice, which is typically darkish for most people.

For anyone who doesn't like the default saturation, there is a slider to change the display saturation, which takes effect after a reboot.

Per-app Settings

Finally, as previously said, we have the per-app settings for Fan Mode, Performance Mode, L2/R2 mode, and controller style. What is the precise meaning of this? You can configure specific programs to utilise specific controller styles, L2/R2 modes, Performance Modes, or Fan modes upon startup and to switch back to their original settings upon shutdown. As I previously indicated, Yuzu is a simple example. To ensure good operation, set the triggers to utilise Analogue. You may use the High-Performance setting on Smart for Yuzu with the fan. You can switch the controller style to Xbox for games like Honkai Star Rail or Game Pass.
