Legion Go 2 Leak: Lenovo's Move to OLED and Possibly SteamOS?
Will you accept additional handhelds? We fervently hope so since Lenovo appears poised to have a spectacular start to the new year. Details and renders of the latest flagship Lenovo Legion Go surfaced shortly after we learnt more about the more affordable Legion Go S today.
We anticipate learning more about the upcoming generation of gaming handhelds at CES 2025 in a few weeks. The circumstances favour Lenovo as the "belle of the ball," as the MSI Claw 8 AI+ has already been shown.
Even though we've already seen renderings of the Legion Go S, new renders revealed more details today. According to the most recent mockups, the Go S will be offered in two distinct hues, but that's not the exciting part. The fact that this might be the first third-party handheld to run SteamOS right out of the box is exciting.
Evan Blass provided us with our first purported glimpse of the Lenovo Legion Go's replacement, so it wasn't the only handheld leaked today. According to renders given to The Verge, Lenovo will continue to use the distinctive design of its first Windows portable, replete with detachable controllers that resemble switches. Additionally, "FPS mode," one of the more unusual game modes, will return with the detachable controllers.
Although the new Legion Go's specifications were not disclosed, there is growing indication that Lenovo may be able to move from LCD to OLED while providing an 8.8-inch screen, one of the biggest on a Windows handheld. However, Lenovo might provide prospective customers with a choice of screen, so it's also feasible that we'll see two different iterations of the Legion Go 2.
Regretfully, we still don't have much information on Lenovo's upcoming product. This includes whether AMD's speculated Z2 Extreme will power it and whether the battery life will be competitive with that of the ROG Ally X.
We believe leaks will continue because CES 2025 is only a few weeks away. We will share any information we have as soon as it becomes available, so stay tuned to the website.
