MinUI CFW Released for the Anbernic RG28XX (Install Guide)
I mentioned in my review of the RG28XX earlier today that the device's Custom Firmware (CFW) would be released shortly. MinUI's developer, Shaun Inman, redefined "soon" because MinUI is already available! MinUI is a fantastic, straightforward firmware that is even easier to install.
How to Install
First, visit the MinUI GitHub page, which can be found here. Next, download the latest version (MinUI-20240429b-2). Downloading the base is important, but having the extras folder is also beneficial since it lets you play other systems that aren't on the base.
Mounting it on an RG35XXPlus is the same procedure. Even the same dmenu.bin file, which is in the same folder, is still required. For a more thorough explanation of how to accomplish this, follow the README file in the MinUI base folder or read my tutorial here. Zu's guide is also available in the video below.
Overview
MinUI's user interface is far superior to stock, and I can't wait to use it on my RG28XX. The design is straightforward and simple to use, which will make this device much better for pick-up and play sessions, which it excels at.
The lack of Wi-Fi functionality is the one thing that makes many reluctant about MinUI. RetroAchievements are necessary for people. This is a fantastic CFW for the gadget because the RG28XX already lacks Wi-Fi; thus, that is not a problem.
Lastly, you can purchase the RG28XX for yourself from Anbernic or AliExpress. Shipping is not included in the $47.99 price. For an additional $10, you may consist of a case with your order for more protection. Stay tuned to the website and channel for comparisons, extra reviews, and firmware updates on the RG28XX!
